The color

Thunder Matte A deep, dark charcoal grey with layered cool undertones — the Ultramarines give it a blue-slate edge, while the Manganese Violet adds a subtle purple complexity. Darker and more multidimensional than a standard grey, cooler and more nuanced than plain black.

Think the dense, flat grey of a thunderhead at its most charged, the colour of wet slate in deep shadow, the complex darkness of a storm sky where grey, blue and violet fold into each other before the lightning. Thunder Matte earns its name precisely — this is a dark shade that carries genuine atmospheric depth. At first glance it reads as dark charcoal; in dim light it slides toward near-black; in certain lights the blue-violet undertone surfaces and reveals an unexpected complexity that no single-pigment shade could ever achieve.

Positioned deeper and darker than Navy Grey Matte but with more cool complexity than a flat black, Thunder Matte fills the precise register that serious smoky eye work requires — a deep, dramatic shade that still has character. It anchors any cool-toned palette with authority: use it as the darkest shade in a grey smoky eye, or as a complete standalone look for an intensely dramatic, fully-diffused eye.

How to wear it

Pack into the outer V and blend aggressively into the crease with a large fluffy brush for a deeply graduated, dramatic charcoal smoky eye.

Apply all over the lid for an intense, graphic dark eye — the cool blue-grey character keeps it from reading as flat black.

Layer Navy Grey Matte over the lid first, then deepen the outer V and lower lash line with Thunder Matte — a seamlessly graduated cool-grey smoky eye.
